Adobecromedia

As most have no doubt heard, Adobe is buying out Macromedia in a stock only deal. Big news. But is it good news? The nay-sayer in me says that we’re going to see the Adobe product line suffer for a spell as the dust settles and the company gets focused again.

Will any of the cool features that exist in DreamWeaver, (some of which blow the doors off of GoLive), make their way into the CS app? Will Flash remain Flash, or will it be resurrected as the now dead LiveMotion? (An aside: I really liked LiveMotion – the UI was far more intuitive IMHO, though the app itself was not anywhere near as pro level as Flash). Will Illustrator finally get multiple page support ala Freehand? I doubt it. I’ve always loved that feature in FH. It’s one I will miss.

Only time will tell what’s going to happen. I’m waiting for Adobe to go after Quark now. Yep, that’s one take over I’d love to see…

BTW, credit goes to Daniel East for the “Adobecromedia” moniker. I simply lifted it from his iChat status…
