Going Offline for the Holidays

I’m going to try something radical here (for me anyway)…

In an effort to try and recharge my batteries, I’m going to try my very best to stay completely offline until next Tuesday at the very least. Perhaps even longer if I can swing it. I’ve been burning the cyber-candle at both ends for some time now, and it’s leaving me with a ‘blah’ feeling, and quite unmotivated to get anything done. So, with this post, I will not be checking email until next Tuesday at the earliest, or anything else that requires me to touch a keyboard, for that matter.

Here’s wishing all a Very Merry Christmas! Thanks to all who helped to make this past year such a success for Jim Mitchell Designs!

Today is Developer Appreciation Day!

Hey now! My net friend and long time Yasu supporter, Gregor Rittinger, just let me know that today is “Developer Appreciation Day” according to the folk over at FreeMacWare.com (Thanks Gregor!).

He’s already done his part (and I’m very grateful), but if you haven’t, now’s your chance. A Couple of Good Books for Sale

[UPDATE] The books have been sold and will be moving to a very deserving home early in the week. Thanks to all who inquired/offered about them.

I came home today to find that Peachpit had sent me a couple of books that had been arranged as part of a “payment” deal for some work I did for someone nearly a year ago…

• Apple Training Series: Desktop and Portable Systems, 2nd Edition

Since it had taken so long for them to (never) show up, I figured the person had simply forgotten about our deal. Rather than trying to remind them a third time about it, I just gave up and bought the books on my own.

Now that these have shown up, it leaves me with a second set that’s going do nothing more than sit on the shelf and gather dust. These books are too good for a fate like that. Both are edited by Owen Linzmayer, are very easy reading, and I highly recommend them.

So here’s the deal. If you’ve wanted to study to take the Apple Certified Tech exams (or just learn more about Macs & OS X in general), then these books are for you. All you have to do is be the first person to drop me a line through my contact page above letting me know that you’re willing to pony up the $50 plus shipping (US only) that I’m asking for them (in order to recover part of the $75 I paid for my own set). Once you do, I’ll get right back to you and we’ll finalize the deal.
