It’s That Time of the Year!
Finally. My yearly sabbatical has arrived. And none too soon.
Each year around this time, I take a week off from the day job and waste it doing absolutely nothing productive. It’s a time spent sleeping, goofing off and generally recharging the batteries. There is never any plan for the day. Rather, everything I do is a spur of the moment decision. I find living life like that for nine days helps me to cope with the rigid structure the other 356 bring. I’m very fortunate that my wife is gracious enough to let me have the time to myself. She recognized early in our relationship I was one of “those” kind of people who needed some space every once in a while in order to maintain my sanity.
This year, contrary to past sabbaticals, I do have a few plans — but very few. Tasks that must be attempted are:
- Helping out the guys at Firestar Communications with a Yasu-like in-house app they’ve developed.
- Taking the youngest to go see Cars at the movie theater.
- Getting the longboard out of the rafters of the garage & getting back in the water. I haven’t been since I got stung by a ray two summers ago. The fact I busted my elbow last year didn’t help.
- A little reading up on WP theme widgets & how to incorporate them in my themes.
- Open up the Yasu project again & write at least 3 lines of code.
- Finally, catch up on sleep whenever, wherever, however I can.
I may, or may not, get to everything on that list. If any of them are a priority, it’s the last one, for sure. So, if you try to contact me, or post a comment, I’m sure you’ll understand why I don’t get back to you for a spell. I’m too busy doing nothing!
