Call Me Gooooooogle Ad-Sense Reject

06.18.06 | Site

I was summarily dismissed from the Google AdSense program a little while back for supposedly defrauding them with too many clicks coming through my site (simply not true). No explanation, just a “see you, don’t want to be you” type of email, and no real chance to redeem myself. In fact, I was booted just before they were due to cut me that first $100 check — which I earned legitimately. I’ve attempted to sign up again, and was flat out turned down. I understand that they probably still consider me a “defrauder,” but it really blows, because I wasn’t. Do I sound bitter? Nah…

So, with my options limited, and needing to generate a little revenue to pay for hosting & domain fees, what are my options? I don’t want sign up for something which requires me to pay for anything in advance, as that would defeat the purpose of monetizing the site.

Should I sell advertising space? Is there anyone out there who’d be interested in coughing up some cash to have a small ad appear on the site? Or are there alternative programs out there that someone could recommend which would do the trick?

I’d really love to hear what readers have to say about my predicament.

There are lots of other ways to monetize your site. You’ve got text-link-ads.com (the broker link sales), adbrite, yahoo ypn, msn adcenter, cj (affiliate sales), or old fashioned link sales. It’s not the end, lots of other places to go.

They did EXACTLY the same thing to me. I emailed them and they gave me a form to fill out to try and get re-instated. Email me if you want the info. I am not sure I will even fill it out, as I made about $6/mo. off them and, as Joe pointed out, there are tons of other ways to monetize your site.

Joe - Thanks for the recommendations. I’m going to give text-link-ads.com a spin. They seem to be the least obtrusive option at the moment, since I don’t want to totally sell out and pimp the site to advertising.

Adam - It would seem there are scores of falsely accused AdSense Rejects out there, many of them booted at the same point I was. I’m not pointing any fingers, but one has to wonder if underhanded practices are encouraged at the big G.

I don’t think G is out to get anyone, when they choose boot a publisher and not pay them, they refund the advertiser back as well. Google has nothing to gain and money to lose by doing so.

With that said, G has their filters in place to look for click fraud. Say you accidentally click your ads twice per week.. which can happen if your not careful.. to a low revenue producing site that can really stick out. I think new publishers with a low number of clicks have it the worst off.

I’ve heard of people getting thier accounts back by emailing the Adsense team and asking them to review the account more closely, if you didn’t encourage or make clicks yourself on purpose. Also, don’t forget YPN which is practically identical to Google, as long as you’re getting mostly US traffic.

Cut Google out of the equation altogether. Cut out their margin and the advertiser’s cut. Use Ad Box Pro to place your own Google-style ads with your own affiliate links. If you use pay-per-sale networks like Clickbank & Commission Junction, there’s no likelihood of click fraud accusations.

HI,I JUST WANT TO ADD THAT I THINK A LOT OF THESE SITES OR INVENTATION ARE A LOT OF BULL! WHY DO THEY ASK FOR MONIES UP FRONT? IF SOMEONE WANTS YOU TO MAKE MONEY FROM HOME, THERE IS NO REASON FOR THEM TO ASK YOU FOR MONEY. IT JUST DOES’NT SOUND LEGIT TO ME. I’M LOOKING TO MAKE MONEY, NOT GIVE IT AWAY! THANKS, M M.W HORN LAKE,MS
