Cache Out X Authentication

Some have recently reported that they’re suddenly having trouble authenticating COX under 10.3.9. I’ve tried and tried to recreate this problem on my test system, but I just come up with nothing.

So, if you’re one of the individuals who are having trouble, please get in touch with me using the contact form link above. I’d really like to be able to help you out, but can’t until I know some specifics.

[UPDATE] – Turns out the Panther version of COX was downloading the Jaguar version at NNSW. This was due to a problem on the site. It’s since been fixed, and the proper version (4.6.5) will download for Panther users.

As you know, I’ve had authentification problems after downloading Cache Out X from nonamescriptware – but when I downloaded it from mac.majorgeeks.com it ran perfectly. I wonder if this is in any way connected to the fact that downloading from nonamescriptware doesn’t use a mounted disk – from majorgeeks it does, and also, importantly, requires admin authentification before completing installation… ?

Hmmm. I dont’ think so. I’ve compared the installer packages for 4.7.2 from the different sources available (NNSW, my site, MMG.com) and they’re all identical down to the last byte.

Installing each package still gets the same results for me too; no problem found…

I’m curious to know – which version did you download from NNSW? Was it the “Panther” specific version (3.3.1), but you tried to run it under 10.3.9? That download doesn’t do a disk image, or require admin auth to install, so maybe that’s the one you’re talking about?

    Still baffled by this one.

    Hi

I downloaded 4.7.2 from both sources… The only difference I noticed during installation was the absence of a disk image / absence of admin auth to install for NNSW. Anyway, I have it now, and it works perfectly! Good luck and best wishes!
