remnml - A kinder, quieter, minimalist reminders application

I've been quietly working on another side project for a while that originally started for my own use to keep track of the little things I need to get done apart from the bigger OmniFocus projects. It's developed into something decent enough that I think it's actually worthy of an App Store release.

The app is called remnml, which is a play on "reminders" and "minimal." It's a simple, quiet face for the Apple Reminders app, and uses the iCloud backend to keep your reminders in sync on all devices. What this means is any reminder you put in remnml also shows up in Apple Reminders, and vice-versa.

Since efficiency is super-important to me, one of the key features is natural language input to quickly add a task, much like you can in Todoist. There's also a quick entry option you can invoke by keyboard to add a task if remnml is not in the foreground, much like the quick entry feature OmniFocus has since that's ingrained in my workflow.

The app works on both macOS 15 and later, and iOS 18 and later. There are the obligatory macOS widgets, iOS lock screen controls and home screen widgets, and it can be used in Apple Shortcuts.

Once released to the public, it will cost a whopping $4.99 per year to use on all of your iPhones, iPads and Macs at once.

I'm getting ready to open it up for TestFlight on an invite-only basis. If you're interested in testing, send me an email at hello@remnml.app. Share your iCloud username in the email so I can add you to the testing group. You'll need to have Apple's TestFlight app installed on your devices too.

I know there are a million Reminders apps on the App Store, but this one is intentionally quiet and resonates with me. Maybe it will resonate with you.
