A New OutPost TestFlight Release
Jim Mitchell 2 min readI’ve released a new TestFlight of OutPost for iOS that adds a couple of user requests and makes the editor experience a little nicer.

New in Build 8
- Alt text fields now wrap and grow as you type, up to six lines, so you can read back a long description.
- Tag suggestions put the tags you use most on each site first. Sites that don’t share a tag list now get suggestions too.
- A quieter editor: the Status, Type, Tags and other settings rows are smaller and grey, so the post itself stands out.
- The body text now uses the full width of its card, and the character count sits next to Write/Preview.
- The New Post button is now a plus (+), so it no longer looks like the Compose tab’s icon.
Please Try
- Signing in with your own site. If it fails, tell us which server or software your site runs.
- Writing a post, switching between Write and Preview, then publishing it, as a note and as an article.
- Adding photos with alt text, including a long description.
- Adding tags from the suggestions. Do your most-used tags come first?
- Saving a draft (tap + or just leave the Compose tab), then reopening it from the Posts tab.
- Editing a published post and saving the change.
- Using it on iPad, in both orientations and with a keyboard if you have one.
Known Issue
- On iPhone, if you have multiple sites and you switch to another site from the site menu, the formatting bar above the keyboard can go missing. To get it back, visit the Posts tab and return to Compose.
Sending Feedback
Take a screenshot in OutPost and tap Share Beta Feedback, or open the TestFlight app, choose OutPost and tap Send Beta Feedback. If OutPost crashes, TestFlight will offer to send a report. Please say yes and add a sentence about what you were doing. It helps a lot to say what your site runs (Micro.blog, Pika.page, WordPress, etc.) and whether you post in Markdown or HTML.
