I’ve used Day One off and on over the years. I checked out Apple’s Journal app when it first came out, but wasn’t too impressed with that early version. However, I recently looked at it again and can actually say it might be an app worth using now given how infrequently I do journal. Maybe I can build up a habit of using it more. I’m curious to know what other Apple users think of it?
Hey, I’m Jim Mitchell. Wrangler of nerds, herder of cats, and butcher of code, though not always in that order. This is my place on the web to explore technology, design, and simple living through the lens of someone who uses ellipses like punctuation should be optional... Indieweb is punk.
I’m working on setting up OutPost for an App Store iOS test flight release. Apple sure makes this stuff confusing…

Such good boys…
The outer bands of Hurricane Marie are rolling into SoCal. I’ve watched the humidity climb 10% in the last couple hours. We are forecasted to get rain tomorrow, which we need badly. I hope some thunderstorms come with it too. I love me some thunder and lightning…

I changed up the layout of OutPost for Mac this morning. I feel the dual sidebar layout works far better on larger screens and is more “Mac-like” in its look and feel. I might be close to having other people test it for real.

I agree with Lee that it’s okay to skip a year — maybe even two or three — between tech upgrades.
Personally, I decided a while ago that I wasn’t going to buy any new tech until it’s either no longer useable due to age, or it somehow breaks and is something I rely on daily. Having the latest and greatest just doesn’t appeal to me anymore.
I’m even ruminating on going back to a dumb phone once my iPhone 16 is no longer useable, and a Framework laptop when my MacBook Air M3 gives up the ghost.
Teasing some screenshots of my in-progress Micropub editor app, via the very app itself. How very meta of me (no, not that meta)…

Plus, I wanted to test out CleanShot Cloud since I haven’t used it yet.

We’ve worn Moo Chi and Dice out before they wore us out. It was close though.
I’ve been patiently trying to get a coworker in a different working group to respond to an ask for a very long time now — too long really. I’ve been polite through all of it. Today, however, the big guns come out… I bet I get a response within a few hours.

Open a tool, do the thing, leave. No account, no download, and nothing between you and the answer.
I somehow managed to stumble on to this site this morning. The dev related tools are pretty handy, but I especially liked the band name generator. I think I might give it a go when I form my punk band.
